Stage 2 watering restrictions end

EMAIL | PRINT | SAVE
Express-News -

San Antonio residents can now water their landscapes for more hours on their designated day each week. The San Antonio Water Authority announced today that Stage 2 restrictions have ended and Stage 1 restrictions are now in effect.

Stage 1 restrictions will be lifted when the J-17 monitoring well stays above 660 feet for 30 days. Today, the well stood at 662.7 feet. It has been above 660 feet since Friday.

In Stage 1 you can water your landscape once per week on your designated day. Watering with a sprinkler or irrigation system is allowed only before 10 a.m. and after 8 p.m. on your assigned day, as determined by the last number of your street address:

• 0 or 1 – Monday
• 2 or 3 – Tuesday
• 4 or 5 – Wednesday
• 6 or 7 – Thursday
• 8 or 9 – Friday

Hand watering with a hand-held hose, soaker hose or drip irrigation is allowed any time, any day. For more information, visit SAWS.org.

I see people all over my neighborhood violating the restrictions and watering several times a week. The restrictions are silly considering the fact that we always wind up with a rainy season and the aquifer refills.

Stage 2 has more restrictive hours. Who needs to water their lawn right now anyways?
